Fort Chadbourne 2005 Newsletter

We are excited about the progress and invite everyone to come out and see for themselves.  Come see what is in your backyard!  Don't forget we have several events coming up.  May 13th is Always Patsy Cline, May 20th is Fort Chadbourne's Living History Event and the Annual Dinner Show on September 16th, 2006.  This will be a good time to come out and see it for yourself while supporting a good cause.

This is an artist's rendition of Fort Chadbourne during the A. B. Gray Report for the 32nd parallel
railroad survey in 1854. Garland and Lana found the book at the Texas State Archives while
researching Fort Chadbourne.

  Visitors at Fort Chadbourne

We have had many different groups visit Fort Chadbourne.  We have had several Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Texas Folklore Society and the Ballinger Women's Club, as well as other visitors just stopping in to tour the fort.  We recently had the OK Smarts Group come out for their Muster.  SMARTS - Special Military Active Retired Travel Club.  Their group consists of Retired Military Travelers.  Several groups were represented at the Muster and they include the Oklahoma Chapter, Texas Oklahoma Chapter, and the Alamo Chapter.  They stayed at Fort Chadbourne for two weeks helping us with projects.  They are a fantastic group!  Media visitors include Brian Hawkins with the Texas Country Reporter that has aired several times and they did a wonderful job!  Another great job was prepared by freelance writer, Preston Lewis, who recently wrote an article for the Dallas Morning News.  The San Antonio Tour Guide Association visited Fort Chadbourne and other forts along the trail.  Farm and Ranch Insurance group toured the fort.
